I think I had control all the way on this, even a good fold at FT. Anyway, the platinum star I ended HU with was very tight, I folded to his BB several times, finally put him on tight-passive and shuved a Krag from SB. He woke up with 77 and almost knocked me out with 4 left in the tourny. I changed my style somewhat, but probably gave him too much respect. Any hands at FT you would have done differently?
HH 4 I hit the wrong button
ReplyDeleteAfter reviewing it, there were a couple of questionable hands I have to admit. Let me know which and I will confirm/compare, lol!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the dreaded misclick! At least it wasn't very expensive. As for the FT, I might have played hands 64, 79 and 106 and you can probably guess that I would have just pushed on hand 111 but the most interesting hand from a hand-reading perspective is HH 68. I'll let you give your thoughts on that one before chiming in with my own....
ReplyDeleteYup, HH 68 is one of them. About even stacks 5 players left. Schnuffi is a HBL, and had some luck earlier. Board is wet and I'm tossing out a very callable bet here.
ReplyDeleteHH 64 is giving the platinum start too much respect. After checking his stats on opr he seems to be a cash player, not a tourny man, lol.
HH 27 is a bit overaggro, not knowing the field good enough at this point. Silly of him to call tho, as I had him covered.
HH 79 is tight, again I'm waiting for some change in the platinum star's style of play. He folded many SB's and I was still wondering what kiund of player he was. I'm not concerned about the BB, he was average/ok, and I knew he respected me.
HH 88 we're about even all over, aggro stealing the blinds from utg.
HH 111 is an attempt on mixing it up with this guy. I have folded many times, min raised once and pushed a couple. If he flat calls, I would be in trouble, but pot committed anyway.
HH 115 is about winning! I like this one.
HH 106 I'm looking at my stack and starting to think too much. Platinum star raises from SB, who knows?
ReplyDeleteHH 68 I don't mind the bet on the flop, you've got an OE and 2 overcards, but I put him on a draw and I think a bet on the turn takes it down. What could he have that explains his actions? The main thing is the flop is so wet that if he has a decent made hand (say top pair or a set or two pair) he pretty much has to bet (or check-raise). To me, his check-call on the flop screams "I'M ON A DRAW!" He could have flopped a straight with 76 but he has to worry about someone drawing to a flush or a higher straight or just a scare turn card that kills his action so again I think he bets (or check-raises) unless perhaps he has exactly the 76 of diamonds but that's only one hand and he might still bet (or CR) that. The turn card and his check seal the deal. If he was on a flush or straight draw, he just missed (so he checks). Your flop bet represented top pair (a perfectly reasonable hand for you to have in the BB) in which case you've just made trip nines. Checking behind instead of betting the turn on a board which is now even wetter (with two flush draws) tells him you didn't have top pair and are probably on a draw yourself. His small bet on the end makes me think he might have had A8, A7, A6 or A5 (probably with the ace of diamonds) or Axs (diamonds) but it could have been some other flush or straight draw or combo draw like second pair and a gutshot.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that's how the hand looks to me away from the heat of battle!
Very nice benko. I put him on Ax, so a bet on the turn should have won it.
